World Health Organization (WHO) recommends hand washing as the easiest and best way to prevent transmission of the virus, in addition to social distancing.
During the pandemic, most of the people are donating food, clothes but only a few people focused on hygiene issues. Pushpa Preeya is one of them. She has been awarded by the President of India and honoured with ‘Nari Shakti Puruskar’. She is always keen to work for the upliftment of the society.
Herbal Soaps: A Social Venture
It is a startup initiated by Pushpa Preeya for helping visually impaired people. Blindness makes the life dark and people suffering from it find themselves unable to do anything. They are always taught or treated as if they are not worthy of anything.
Fortunately, in this social venture, they are given opportunities and a platform where they could show their talents and creativity. They make herbal soaps which are chemical-free. Soaps are made in different colors and shapes. Each design and colors are chosen symbolically such as red color stands for power and energy, green color is for peace, orange color indicates happiness.
This startup has a social mission which works in two ways. First, it is giving employment to the visually impaired people. This social venture requests people to buy soaps from these people and the price of these soaps is also very nominal. The second is that the soap which people will buy will directly go to the people of slum areas which need hygiene products.
